The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus outbreak in early 2020 started a global pandemic. The virus causes Covid-19 disease. Many infected people only developed mild symptoms but many fell seriously ill. A vaccination is available that protects against severe outcomes. Behavioural and hygiene rules help to limit transmission. The pandemic shows us how important it is for everyone to have access to clear health information.

Corona: how we protect ourselves

Behavioural and hygiene measures to protect against infection are still relevant and an important way to combat the pandemic. The most important of these are: keep your distance, wash your hands, cough/sneeze into a handkerchief or the crook of your arm, and stay at home if you experience symptoms. The FOPH has published videos and leaflets about these measures in various languages.
